Eraclea / Cities

Eraclea is located very close to Jesolo, some 8 kilometers east, on the Piave River. It is an ancient city first mentioned in 640, in a document issued by Pope Severino, but the city has even older origins. Eraclea saw its political and economic heydays around the 7th century, as well as during the Venetian rule, when the diplomatic and commercial relations with powers like the Byzantine court flourished.

The city of Eraclea proper is not the most appealing tourist destination. However, the main tourist trump of the city refers to its beaches which, in fact, are located in Eraclea Mare, the latter being one of the frazioni of Eraclea. The beaches stretch on a distance of about 4 kilometers, and the quality of the sunbathing moments spent here is guaranteed by the fact the Lido of Eraclea has been constantly awarded the blue flag (bandera blu) for the cleanliness of the water and for the concern to environment-protection aspects.

Another interesting tourist attraction refers to the so called Laguna del Mort, a natural formation located between the mouth of the Piave River and the beach, and to its pinewood.

How to get from Jesolo to Eraclea
